Finding words that are Repeated Repeatedly

Find Repeated words.

Sometimes a word will be stuck in your head and you'll use it frequently without realizing it. Even worse, you may use a word that has different meanings in close proximity to each other, confusing a casual reader.

This report highlights words that are repeated within a short distance of each other.

Only words longer than the value for Skip words shorter than are highlighted.

Words must be within Repeat Distance to be highlighted.

The first and second occurrence of the words are highlighted in different colors.

The word size and word distance can be set using the General Preferences dialog.

The default values are words that are at least five letters long and are within 20 words of each other. This is good for finding overused words.

To find doubled words (a common result of a long editing session) set the distance to two and the length to one.
